　　譯文：但在憲法這一重要的問題上，最高法院以8：0的結(jié)果挫敗了奧巴馬政府試圖打敗聯(lián)邦政府與各州間權(quán)力平衡的努力。

　　分析：本句的主干是…the decisionwasan 8-0 defeat…。表語后面跟了一個目的狀語for the Administration’s effort…。在該狀語中，動詞不定式to upset the balance…the states是effort的后置定語，解釋了effort的內(nèi)容。
